Gen gave int design an assignment to make a booklet last summer. It needs a lot of work. But I think it could be look nice.

I'm going to start posting my portfolio online. Not everything is as finished as this is. Some stuff needs a lot of work.

I am the son of a black man from Kenya and a white woman from Kansas. I was raised with the help of a white grandfather who survived a Depression to serve in Patton's Army during World War II and a white grandmother who worked on a bomber assembly line at Fort Leavenworth while he was overseas. I've gone to some of the best schools in America and lived in one of the world's poorest nations. I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slaveowners — an inheritance we pass on to our two precious daughters. I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.

In class I mentioned the artist/graphic designer shepard fairey. There are a bunch of people online using this exact design on t-shirts and selling them. I have no if Shepard Fairey has released this for reproduction or not.

I don't really have anything to show right now because my friend is coding. He doesn't really know how to have flash communicate with javascript. So the page is going to coded in html. That means that the typeface is going to have to change a little bit. For those who do not know web, you are limited to the typefaces available on the users computer. So, I had to pick a successor for if the user does not have interstate. My choices are Interstate, then Franklin Gothic, Helvetica, and finally any sans serif font. The other option is to turn the text into a gif (I cannot do a jpeg b/c I need the background to be transparent) but it looks pretty crappy.

I had a problem printing so we are just going to have to view these in class

2007 Gallup poll found that among whites over age 50, less than two thirds, or 64 percent, approve of marriage between a black person and a white person. Subtract a few points for those who were reluctant to appear intolerant on the survey, and you wind up with roughly 4 in 10 white people over age 50 refusing to support interracial marriage. It hardly seems far-fetched that voters who oppose black-white unions in the first place might have some difficulty supporting the product of such a union as their president.
